Behind the Scenes of Wild Terrain

Behind the Scenes of Wild Terrain

THE INSPO / THE PROCESS / THE RESULT

THE INSPO

In 2024, my husband and I took a trip to Scotland for our babymoon. We rented a car and drove from Edinburgh to Inverness and through the Scottish highlands over to Glencoe. I saw the most amazing landscapes and thus… Wild Terrain (the series) was born.

THE PROCESS

After looking through and narrowing down photos, I bought a big roll of raw canvas (which I prefer) and just started painting. There were no preconceived sketches. I brought back a technique I used to use on my abstract raw canvas paintings where I layer washy backgrounds in between a lot of blow drying. This time, though, I added a lot of detail on top. Then I found some great plein air frames (most are oak, one is walnut) and thick cardstock. I glued the paintings to the cardstock and framed them… et voila!

THE RESULT

Five new wild landscape paintings framed and ready for your walls!
